Collegiate Riding

Here are some resources.

If interested in wanting to be on a NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team in college it’s very important to view information at the Official NCAA Varsity Equestrian website. There are specific guidelines/rules that must be followed. And a timeline of how to go about the process of applying or getting the school team interested in you.

If you are recruited for a NCAA Division 1 team AND are accepted onto the team, whether or not you are given a scholarship, you need to be familiar with the rules (mainly scholarship and eligibility) of the NCAA Division 1 pertaining to the Equestrian Team.

If you do receive a scholarship from a NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team, you need to be in contact with your compliance officer and/or coach at the university. This is very important if you apply and/or receive scholarships from the OHSET organization.

If applying for any OHSET scholarships (district or state) and you have been accepted or are being recruited by a NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team, you need to let the university coach know.

NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Teams are only allowed a certain amount of scholarship money to be used by the whole team.

These above rules DO NOT apply to colleges and universities that compete under IHSA.

The IHSA is mainly made up of Club Sport Equestrian Teams. IHSA does offer scholarships, but not to ride for the team. These scholarships are open to anyone.

Contact the college or university directly if you do not see the school you are interested in listed in any of the above websites.
